Sometimes I connect with ICQ chat site. I like that meet various people. Expecially I'm interested in different culture lately, so I like that talk with foreigner. (Although it's not easy because I'm not good at English...) I don't know the level of ICQ CHAT FORUM. I use simply to meet foreign freinds cause it is not easy in korean website.
Anyway, I connected with Asia chat room yesterday morning. I talked with some people and I was pleasant. The problem started after that. Some of them hostilely responded to me since they knew I am Korean. Suddenly someone asked me like this. "You from south korea? How about north korea? shit..."
How about what...? I never be ashamed of I am Korean. I felt strange. They have thought that north korea is terrorist. Frankly speaking, I don't like north korea. However it is not a simple matter to korean. They are our brothers and also enemies. I'm not experienced korea war in 1950 and I'm not a victim of right and left opposition.
This is not the main point. I want to know why my nationality affects to make friends. I was shocked. I was thinking about it all through yesterday morning. Aren't we all friends? wooo.... I don't want to hate anybody.

Your nationality never affects me. Korea is a special place for me especially that when i was in high school we are thought some of the cultures in Korea. Not to mention, some of our sisters are from Korea and the head nun was from Korea also.
You have done the right way, you should not be ashamed that you are from Korea infact it is something that you should be proud of. Okies??

I can somewhere relate to this..
I am from India and the problem betweeen India & Pakistan is well known world over...
But, the majority of the general public of both countries donot hate each other.
I feel such issues are more political than anything else.
Don't get effected by such comments coz such people donot deserve any attention.

You should just ignored those kind of people, we cannot blame them for their stupidity and ignorance. We should be proud of what we are and try and try to make the best of our lives.
Anyway, I like korea. I went there twice last year. Suppose to go there again this coming winter but budget a little bit tight :)
